12 Mar XPlore Sydney – Top 5 Sydney Food Trucks
XploreSydney lists its top 5 trucks – Cantina makes the cut once again!
For the past few months, it seems the hippest way for Sydney-siders to spend their lunch hour is by queuing up for three-quarters of it, in pursuit of a truck dispensing various deep fried, grilled or steamed options. For a city that blossoms on novelty in every sense of the word, we’ve lagged some on the mobile dining phenomenon, considered institutions in places like New York, Los Angeles and Europe.
In 2012, the City of Sydney responded by launching an exclusive range of speciality food trucks, designed to provide people with the legendary experience of delving into soft or crispy tacos, pork-belly buns, crispy jaffles and organic veggie burgers. Here at Xplore, there’s nothing we love more than outdoor lunches and getting messy, so here’s presenting out top 5 food truck adventures.
The first in our fleet of gourmet vans is Cantina Movil, a New York inspired street food project headed by Stephanie Raco and Rode Vella of Manly’s In Situ. Think travelling tacos. The cantina dishes up soft shell tacos with achiote chicken among other fillings, a take on chilli corn that is part pleasure, part pain and delicious options for the hopeless sweet tooth.
One of the first food trucks to hit the Sydney scene back in 2012, Cantina Movil also has a permanent licensed establecimiento on Glebe Point Road. A truck like exterior and actual garage for parking, the space is innovative and guaranteed good times.
Hit: Nothing over $12
Pro tip: Order the chilli chocolate ice cream for an after meal kick
